Meet Our Staff

The Fernandina Beach High School Band Program is led by an incredible team of educators and instructors who bring experience, passion, and mentorship to every rehearsal and performance. Meet the people who help bring the music to life:


Band Directors


Mr. Tyler Odom

Director of Bands

Mr. Odom oversees all aspects of the FBHS Band Program, including the Mighty Marching Pirates, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Winter Guard. Under his leadership, the band has earned multiple superior ratings and traveled to festivals and exhibitions across the Southeast. He brings a passion for both music education and student development.


Mr. Asa Jernigan

Assistant Band Director

Mr. Jernigan supports the daily operations of the band program, assists with instruction across all ensembles, and works closely with students during marching season and concert season.


Mr. Johnnie Robinson

Director Emeritus

A long-time leader of the Mighty Marching Pirates, Mr. Robinson continues to be a beloved presence in the program. His legacy continues to inspire excellence and community within the band.


Instructional & Support Staff


Rene Odom

Visual Coordinator

Rene leads the visual design and marching fundamentals program, helping students develop strong performance presence on the field. Rene is also over the Winter Guard program.


Shemayah Preliou

Color Guard Instructor

Shemayah brings artistry, energy, and leadership to the Color Guard and Winter Guard teams. She focuses on choreography, technique, and building confidence. 


Karissa Bridwell

Percussion Coordinator

Karissa oversees all things relating to Percussion, including drumline and front ensemble instruction. Her dedication helps keep Pirate Percussion strong and unified.


Brady Graves

Battery Instructor

Brady works directly with the marching drumline (battery), providing specialized instruction on technique, timing, and performance.


Jay Crossley

Visual Instructor

Jay assists with drill instruction, visuals, and marching technique, especially during camps and rehearsals. Jay is also staff for Winter Guard.


Bridget Peeples

Visual and Trumpet Technician

Bridget supports both the visual team and the trumpet section, offering technical guidance and helping shape clean, confident performances.


Cayman Hogue

Front Ensemble Technician

Cayman specializes in the non-marching percussion section (“The Pit”), helping students master mallet instruments, synthesizers, and auxiliary percussion.
